Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

An eSIM, or embedded SIM, is the modern way to connect without the hassle of a physical SIM card. Built into most smartphones released since 2017, it lets you activate mobile service digitally in just a few clicks – no store visits, no waiting, no passport verifications.

With an eSIM, you can install multiple plans on the same device, making it easy to manage personal, business, or travel numbers all in one place. It also brings major savings on international data, simple switching between providers, and added security through encrypted network access.

Yes, our eSIM provider is highly secure.

Your connection is hosted on reliable US-based servers and uses top-tier 5G and LTE networks around the world. All internet traffic is routed through countries with strong data protection and privacy laws, like the USA, France, the Netherlands, and Singapore. Ensuring your personal information stays safe.

Every eSIM uses encrypted credentials to connect to mobile networks, meaning your data remains private and protected wherever you travel.

You can install your eSIM on your device anytime before your trip. Installation requires Wi-Fi and takes a couple of minutes. The eSIM service will only work in your destination and during your service dates. When you turn your eSIM on in-destination, make sure the “Data Roaming” has been turned on for your travel eSIM.

Travel eSIM offers cellular/mobile data service only (without a local number for calling/texting). This service allows you to use mobile apps on your phone, including calling and texting apps such as FaceTime, WhatsApp, iMessage, WeChat, etc.

To be able to use a travel eSIM on your phone, you must confirm two points:

  1. Your phone is not locked to your primary carrier (here is how you can check).
  2. Your phone has the eSIM feature (here is a list of devices that support eSIM).

Please double check if your device is compatible before purchase.

For any device to be “eSIM enabled” it should support eSIM and shouldn’t be locked by the primary carrier. Mobile devices that support eSIM currently include the following (as of Sep. 2024):

Apple iPhones*:

  • iPhone 17 (all models)

You may also check if your Android phone has eSIM feature by confirming that you can see the following: Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM > Scan QR code.

  • Digital activation using QR codes, without the hassle of physical SIM cards.
  • Major savings while traveling abroad compared to home carrier roaming.
  • Multiple plans can be installed on the same device (e.g. for personal, business, or travel).

fter you select your trip dates, a data package will be recommended for your trip (you’ll still have the option to select a larger or smaller data package).

Wireless data consumption varies from one user to another, however, on average the following is recommended:

  • 1GB (for 1-3 days)
  • 2GB (for 3-5 days)
  • 3GB-5GB (for 5-9 days)
  • 5GB-8GB (for 9-12 days)
  • 8GB-20GB (for 12+ days)

If you run out of data during your trip, you’ll get an email and/or SMS notification to “top up” your existing eSIM with an additional data package. The “top up” will go to your existing eSIM to keep the service ongoing.

To avoid consuming your travel data on your mobile app updates, we recommend keeping background app refresh on “Wi-Fi only.” On iPhone: Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh > At the top, Select “Wi-Fi” only.
