Get up close and personal with our friendly Bottlenose Dolphins and spot sea turtles. Be amazed by the size of the majestic Humpback Whales as they migrate from May to November.
Our guides are experienced kayakers, surfers, self-proclaimed local historians, and excellent watermen. They know Byron Bay well and are the best guides in the business. With that in mind, you can relax and be guided around Byron Bay in our two-person, sit-on-top-style sea kayaks, which are designed for ease of use and stability. No prior experience is necessary. Your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities. We supply all safety gear: lifejackets, helmets, and wetsuits (if necessary), ensuring you feel secure and cared for throughout your adventure.

- You and your buddy will paddle for 1.5.-1.75hrs
- A moderate level of fitness is required
- The kayaks are double kayaks and whilst it can be possible to pair you with a guide this is not guaranteed without prior consultation.
- The closest toilets to our departure point are the Byron Shire Council toilets at Clarkes Beach opposite the Beach Café.
- Once on the water there are no toilets available until we return.
- At the beginning, we need to communicate safety information with our guests – laminated and or personal audio instructions can be provided with prior notice.
- We do not recommend the tour for non-swimming adults
- There are waves that you need to paddle through/over
- There is always a chance that guests may come out of their kayaks especially during the launch and landing in the wave zone and whilst life jackets are provided guests must be able to get themselves back into the kayak.
- The meeting point for Cape Byron Kayaks is on Lawson Street. The tour departure point is Clarkes Beach – there is approximately 150m of track and beach to our launch point. This track changes due to coastal erosion/dune movement/weather conditions. The track is always sandy but can also be rocky and undulating – we can advise on the track conditions when you call.
This tour is subject to the terms and conditions of both Australia Expert (the Travel Agency) and the Tour Operator. These terms can be found upon booking, in your Travel Voucher, and in the booking confirmation sent to your registered email address.

If you proceed with this booking, you agree to the policies below.
Cancellations or changes to a booking within 24 hours of tour start time are not allowed and non-refundable. No exceptions.
- Understand that this tour will proceed in the rain. Customers who cancel less than 24 hours prior to a tour due to rainy conditions are not entitled to a refund or free swap. Choosing to opt out of a tour due to rain does not warrant a refund.
- Is aware that this is a tour in the open ocean and I/we are confident in the open water. We DO NOT recommend the tour for non-swimming adults. Non swimming adults who book and cannot complete the tour are not entitled to a refund.
- Have a reasonable level of fitness and ability to paddle my/our own kayak
- Inability to paddle my own kayak in moderate conditions is not a reason for a refund
- Agree that if the tour does not see dolphins or whales (during whale season), I am entitled to a free return tour but I am NOT entitled to any refund. Free return tours are non-transferable.
- Guests must arrive at Cape Byron Kayaks 15 mins prior to stated departure time. Late arrivals will not be able to join the tour and will not be eligible for a refund.
